Granulating and blending
The wide variety of available granulating technology enables Vifor Pharma to meet your specific process needs:
_Wet granulation
_Fluid bed granulator/dryer
_Dry granluation by compaction
Our 1,000-litre blender can process batches of up to 450 kg. A small scale blender of 200 litres allows a smooth up-scaling process from the laboratory to industrial size.
Tabletting and film-coating
Direct compression or compression of dried granulates can be processed by the two presses (50,000 or 150,000 tabs/hour) controlled by automatic checkmaster to obtain:
_Round tablets: Ø from 7 to 12 mm
_Shaped tablets: oblong, rectangular or square
_Micro-tablets: Ø of 2 mm
The range of available shapes and sizes is sufficiently wide to accommodate most customer requirements. Adapted tooling for the blistering of all existing sizes is provided.
Controlled-release tablets can be produced as sustained-release matrix or film-coated tablets. Two coating pans (300 and 600 litres) are at disposal, with usual batch sizes from 200,000 up to 1 million tablets.
Capsule filling
Vifor Pharma fills hard gelatine capsules (size: 0-4) with one or two components:

Our fully automated machines assure the highest quality of products:
_with automatic SPC at up to 90,000 caps/hour
_with 100% weight control at up to 50,000 caps/hour
_with 100% weight control at up to 50,000 caps/hour
Usual batch size is approx. 1 million capsules.

The cap is then snapped on a single dose unit, allowing the stability of the active ingredient to be improved, whilst maintaining the advantages of a drinkable dosage form for the patient.
